The Royal Akarana YC's brand new fleet of Platu 25s were used for the National Keelboat Championships in 2008 for the first time.
Dean Barker and his Emirates Team New Zealand crew staved off the opposition by 10 points, to win the Gold fleet.
The young guns filled the remaining podium places. Peter Burling (NZ 2008 470 Olympic rep.) was second, with Josh Junior, from Wellington, in third.
