Omega Auckland Match Racing: Update #6 on Day 3

Omega Auckland Match Racing

Ben Ainslie (GBR) has guaranteed his place in the semi-finals.

Ainslie said: "It's very difficult conditions. Lots of current and the wind shifting around with the sea breeze trying to come in from either side.

"There are a lot of similarities with the Solent with the island, lots of current and the breeze shifting around like this. Sometimes venues like this provide a lot of opportunities for people.

"Generally, a lot of the preparation counts - all that sort of thing helps. Again, it's a little bit unconventional here, and maybe that helps guys like my team here.

"This is probably the toughest group of match racers I have ever raced against in a regatta.

"We always get great, interesting, conditions here on Auckland Harbour."

Racing has been postponed due to light and variable winds.
