Sunday dawned bright, warm and sunny as hundreds of competitors from the 79th edition of the J.P. Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race headed for the Island Sailing Club (ISC) to the event prizegiving to be honoured with their gold and silverware spoils after a superbly successful J.P. Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race yesterday. The race is being regarded by Organisers, Sponsors, Race Partners and the all-important 1700+ competitors as one of the most successful on record.

This morning’s prizegiving was introduced and MC’d by ISC Sailing Secretary Chris Thomas who welcomed onto the stage the Commodore Bill Pimlott, Roger Thompson, UK Head of J.P. Morgan Asset Management and one of the world’s best offshore racing sailors, Mike Golding OBE. Everyone was in excellent spirits and the tables were groaning under the stunning array of trophies, salvers, Nautica Watches and Old Pulteney Whisky!

The Commodore made special mention of the small army of volunteers and the ISC teams who help to pull this event together each year. Roger Thompson highlighted how much J.P. Morgan Asset Management enjoys working with the Island Sailing Club and said that this great event just keeps going from strength to strength.

Roger, together with Mike Golding, handed out the trophies to some very proud competitors including the winner of this year’s Gold Roman Bowl, Brian Appleyard and his crew on the Nordic Folkboat Nordic Bear. To wind up the proceedings, Brian took the microphone to thank the ISC for organising another great race and J.P. Morgan Asset Management for their continuing sponsorship Brian also paid tribute to whoever it is ‘up there’ who organised a great course and great weather yesterday!
