The Panmure Yacht & Boating Club are to host a Quarter Ton Reunion Regatta during March 2011.

PYBC was home to the famous ‘quarter tonners’ from 1973 to 1981 and was host to the Quarter Ton World Championships in 1980, when it was won by the French boat, Bullit.

The quarter ton class is steeped in history, with such famous names as Murray Ross, Paul Whiting, Kim Mcdell and Roy Dickson, all regularly competing in quarter ton events throughout the 1970’s. Names like Magic Bus, Hot Pantz, Pinto, Clockwork and Penny Farrthing will always be etched in the minds of the sailors who sailed on and against them.

Entry is open to any quarter ton yacht, who has been rated previously, even if a valid rating is not currently held. The regatta emphasis this year is on ‘participation’ with the possibility of the event being held annually, should enough interest be shown, with a view to stricter criteria and valid ratings required for future events.
