On Sunday 23rd of January 2011, World Premiere at the world´s biggest boatshow “boot” in Düsseldorf: Match Race Germany and Bavaria Yachtbau present for the first time a sports version of the new Cruiser 40-Match Race Germany Edition. The BAVARIA 40.S will be the biggest yacht in action on the World Match Racing Tour for the 2011 circuit.

"From a sports side, the appearance of the new Bavaria increases the value of our traditional event enormously once again. We are proud to be able to supply the 5th set of new state of the art racing yachts for the world´s best skippers and crews in only 14 years” Eberhard Magg states, a successful sailor and match racer himself.

Harald Thierer, responsible for sponsoring and hospitality of Match Race Germany adds:“ The successful partnership with Bavaria Yachtbau is entering it´s seventh year. We happily ascertain that Germany´s biggest boat manufacturer shares our visions for the future, and will stay on board together with us.”

The powerful hull of the Bavaria 40.S, from the worldwide well known design office of Sir Bruce Farr, and his Farr Yacht Design Inc. converts in it´s sporty version to a cruiser racer for the ambitioned sailor, who despite loving horsepower in sailing doesn´t want to compromise comfort and space. Exactly this aspect is also of great importance for the shareholders of Match Center Germany.

In Match Center Germany the fleet will be used on a year around basis for corporate events and advanced leadership coachings. More than 80 corporate events have been held in 2010, with the biggest one hosting 300 sailors from 10 nations of an internationally operating bank back in October. Thousands of people have not only been getting in loose contact with the Bavaria brand, but also with watersports and sailing in general. The key message of Match center Germany is to bring people in touch with the marine industry for the first time, and hence push the sport of sailing across the European borders.

The basic concept of the BAVARIA 40.S has been weight optimized for a clearly improved performance.

Along the longer and tapered SELDEN rig, including a race boom, as well as the high performance keel the BAVARIA 40.S has the following significant features:

· Cockpit-Traveller – German Mainsheet System
· Double Spinnaker Gear
· Ball Bearing Deck Hardware from Selden
· Carbon Spinnaker Pole
· Composite Steering Wheels
· Lewmar “Mamba Torque Tube” Steeringsystem
· Lewmar EVO Winches
· Tick Tack Micronet Multi Maxi Mast Displays (wireless)
· Hydraulic Back Stay Tensioner
· Liros High Performance Ropes

Attending the launch of the BAVARIA 40.S during Düsseldorf boat show will be Jim O`Toole (CEO of the World Match Racing Tour) as well as Markus Wieser (multiple World-, European-, and German Champion). They will evaluate the importance of such a message for the World Match Racing Tour. Markus Wieser will also deliver an analysis from a sportsmen´s angle of view. Dr. Jens Ludmann, CEO BAVARIA, will eventually hand over a symbolic carbon steering wheel to the organizers of Match Race Germany/Match Center Germany Bernd Buck, Harald Thierer and Eberhard Magg.
